While cleaning out my Christopher’s nightstand, something I do every time he deploys, I found the “Paper Time Capsule: Letters of Love” I gave him the summer of 2015 when he was deployed… I love how we have a treasure trove of love letters going back over the 12 years we have been together. As I was reading through them I came to this one, with the prompt I wish for us a future full of… and I was in tears because it is still true even two years later and I can only guess it will remain true the rest of our lives. My letter read:
I wish for us a future full of… love, happiness, adventure, & content.
I hope our love only grows over time as we grow old, our children grow up, and our family expands.
I hope that no matter what life brings us we can find happiness in everything.
I hope as the kids grow we can share adventures with them and after they are grown and on their own, I hope we can find our own adventures and make the most out of our time together.
But most of all, I hope we are content with the life our Lord provides us with… appreciating each day we have together, each blessing we are given, each hardship we overcome together, and the life we have built for us and our family.
I love you more than life!

There will always be different things I wish for our relationship and future but I cannot imagine changing these foundational pieces that are so deeply rooted in our hearts and faith.
“In all human love, it must be realized that every man promises a woman, and every woman promises a man that which only God alone can give, namely, perfect happiness.” ~Archbishop Fulton J Sheen (Three to Get Married)
